Lord of the Flies

                                                  Lord of the Flies Task 1 part 3

        
We found positive in this novel when the boys are rescued and in the beginning were there sense of civilization pops up. We found the death of Simon most negative in the book, also the whipping of Samneric. Half the tribe turning into savages was negative too. When Jack decided to start his own tribe is when the negativity started to form. The killing of Piggy for no apparent reason was a negative attribute to the book. We think that Roger is the most negative character in the book, because he was a sadist and enjoyed torturing people. Following behind Roger is Jack as the second most negative character. We think his negativity is when he lost being chief of the island. What also made Jack mad was when Ralph yelled at him for not letting the fire go out while he was hunting and told him hunting was not as important as the fire.                                                                                              

        Some positive attributes are; when Ralph stood his ground and did not become a savage, also when the marine officer asked him who was in charge and Ralph said he was. When they find the conch the use it as the symbol as their order. Something else we found negative in the first time they tried to find and kill a pig and failed trying the first time yelling, ‘kill the pig, cut his throat bash him’. Another that we found interesting is that even though Piggy was the smartest he was still rejected multiple times. We found some interesting facts in the book one of them was how they used science to make a lever to knock the boulder down the hill to kill Piggy. Another was when they managed to kill Simon with their bare hands and feet just because they were scared.

                                                                    Task 2 Part 2

We think that William Golding’s statement is true because if you do look in the newspaper there is no problem finding bad news but it’s really hard to find good news over the past century there has been nothing but terrible news so much shootings that America is thinking about banning guns from America. So many people have died from either a bullet to the chest or being blown up by a grenade. This maybe couldn’t happen if people would go to school. That’s right go to school I mean look at it this way, if there was kids learning about  different religions, cultures, and races. We could know what not to do to offend someone. We also could learn how to solve problems that could lead to world peace. When we look up good words like right, well behaved, and proper describes good. When we look up the word evil words like diabolical, despicable describes evil, but looking on to those things we can all prove that both Jack and Ralph were both of those things. Jack was more nice and proper towards the beginning of the book Lord of the Flies and at the end he was more evil. Same with Ralph, but the evil thing he did was help kill Simon. Like Roger when he rolled the boulder to kill Piggy.

Animal Farm

    Animal Farm by George Orwell was first published in 1946. This story occurs during the Soviet Union. This story is told in third-person omniscient as told by George Orwell, the author.

    There are 5 chief characters. They are Mr. Jones, the farmer; Old Major, a wise pig with a vision; Napoleon, the chief of the animals; Boxer, a hardworking and loyal horse; and Benjamin, a cynical old donkey.

    The story begins when all the animals gather together to hear what Old Major has to say. He talks about how they have a cruel life and they rebel against the farmer. Then Old Major dies. After that they all rebel against the farmer and it works. When the animals have taken over the pigs become the leaders because they're the most intelligent. Then Napoleon becomes the head of all because he has 9 ferocious dogs with him. In the end the animals figure out that they went to the same problem they tried to stop.

    The author appeared to be objective because it looked like he never gave his opinion. Since it the story was third-person he could never explain his opinion.

    This book caused me to feel just a few emotions. I felt ironical at the end because they noticed everything they rebelled against just happened again.  I was also more aware of human nature when Napoleon took control. The characters in the story seemed believable. I could relate to them because most try to get to the top in control. I especially liked Napoleon because he was clever enough to trick the animals into working for him. This story will be outdated because not that many people know about the Soviet Union because they didn't read the book.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

    The strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was written by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was published in 1885. This story occurs during old New York times. It is told in third-person omniscient.

    There are 4 main characters. They are: Dr. Jekyll, a respected doctor; Mr. Hyde, the evil man; Mr. Utterson, an elderly lawyer;& Richard, young cousin of Mr. Utterson.

    When Mr. Utterson & his cousin, Richard, were going for a walk they notice a place where Richard saw Mr. Hyde.
Richard talks about what horrible things Mr. Hyde did; like how he ran into a little girl but instead of helping her started stepping on her.
Mr. Utterson finds out that Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde are the same people.
Dr. Jekyll writes his will to Mr. Hyde because he knows he's going to die but Mr. Hyde is not.
Dr. Jekyll dies & Mr. Hyde takes over.

    Robert Louis Stevenson appears to be subjective. Because he made it look at first like Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde are different people.

    The book caused a lot of emotions in me. I felt scarred when Mr. Hyde was trampling the little girl. When Mr. Hyde said he had a lot of money I thought for a second that he was also Dr. Jekyll. I was also made more aware of human nature when it told how Mr. Utterson was reacting to Richard's story. The characters seemed believable. I believed in it because multiple personalities is a real thing. I liked the part when they figured out Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde were the same people because it was interesting how they changed. This story has an enduring theme because it makes you wonder how did all this happen.

The ABC Murders

    The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie was first published in 1936. This story occurs during world depressions. The story is told in first-person observer as told by Hecule Poirot's friend, Hastings.

    There are 5 chief characters. They are Hercule Poirot, a famous detective; Captain Arthur Hastings, Hercule Poirot's old friend; Detective Chief Inspector James Harold Japp, another friend of Hercule; Alexander Bonaparte Cust, a travelling salesman who has an unfortunate name; and Franklin Clarke, (spoiler alert) the murderer.

    Hercule Poirot and his friend were having a laugh. But then they get a note. The note leads them to the murder of Alice Ascher. Then they find more notes written by the same person. Those notes lead them to the muders of Elizabeth "Betty" Barnard & Sir Carmicael Clarke. They find Alexander Bonaparte Cust and assume he's the muderer because the notes were signed, ABC. But then they figure out that he's innocent. Then they figure out that Franklin Clarke was the murderer.

    Agatha Christie is being objective because she made us think Alexander was the murderer.

    This book caused only a few emotions in me. I felt questionable when the murders were happening. When Alexander was brought to jail I felt unsure. I didn't think he could be the murderer.
I was also made more aware of human nature when the murders happened. The characters seem believable. I could relate to them because they were unsure at some parts too. I especially liked Franklin Clarke because he had a very good plan set out. This story has an enduring theme because it so interesting.
